Dua orang siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan di Kabupaten Sidoarjo, mengalami hal mistis berupa teror makhluk tak kasat mata selama mereka magang pada sebuah pabrik di Kabupaten Pasuruan. Sebut saja Achmad dan Mado.
Dulu istilah magang disebut dengan PKL, akronim dari Praktik Kerja Lapangan. Sebuah program pembelajaran yang wajib dijalani siswa sekolah kejuruan dengan terjun secara langsung ke dunia kerja sesuai jurusan yang diambil.
PKL biasanya memakan waktu enam bulan, terbagi menjadi dua periode. Program ini dijalani ketika siswa duduk di bangku kelas dua.
Kembali pada kisah seram yang pernah dialami Achmad dan Mado. Saat itu keduanya memutuskan untuk tinggal di mess, tempat tinggal gratis yang disediakan perusahaan bagi pekerjanya.
Keduanya memutuskan tinggal di mess bukan tanpa alasan. Selain agar lebih dekat ke tempat magang, juga supaya uang saku tidak habis hanya untuk ongkos perjalanan dari Sidoarjo ke Pasuruan.
Mess yang mereka tempati merupakan bekas rumah warga yang dibeli perusahaan. Lokasinya sekitar satu kilometer dari pabrik. Untuk menuju ke mess, harus melewati perkebunan, hutan bambu dan pekarangan kosong.
Namun teror makhluk halus bukan berasal dari tempat-tempat ini, melainkan justru dari mess yang akan mereka tinggali.
Jika digambarkan, rumah yang dijadikan mess ini seperti kebanyakan rumah di perkampungan setempat. Berukuran sekitar 6 x 15 meter dengan dua kamar tidur, dapur luas di bagian belakang rumah yang ruangannya menyatu.
Di bagian dapur terdapat toilet sederhana, dimana ruangan antara wc dan kamar mandi dibuat terpisah. Jadi ruangan WC kesannya lebih gelap karena jarang dipakai bila dibandingkan dengan kamar mandinya.
Sedangkan di ujung sisi kanan, terdapat pintu menuju ke halaman samping dan belakang. Di area ini terdapat kandang sapi dan angsa. Serta sebuah sumur timba ayunan yang cukup lebar. Model timba ayunan seperti ini menggunakan tiang sebagai penyanggah utama dan bagian tuas terbuat dari bambu dengan salah satu ujung diberi beban batu besar.
Di bagian belakang mess juga terdapat hutan bambu yang cukup rimbun. Di bawahnya mengalir sungai kecil yang tak pernah surut airnya. Sedangkan di sisi mess lainnya sebuah kebun pisang dan lapangan volly.
Mess beratap genteng tanah liat dan berplafon anyaman bambu itu tak memiliki halaman depan. Teras rumah langsung berhadapan dengan jalan perkampungan yang tak jarang warga hilir mudik. Namun ketika petang sehabis maghrib, suasana seketika sepi dan sunyi.
Malam itu, Achmad dan Mado mulai bermalam di mess, hanya berdua. Meski ada dua kamar tidur, keduanya memutuskan tidur di ruang tamu. Sebab, di ruangan inilah satu-satunya disediakan ranjang. Sementara di dua kamar tidur justru tidak ada satupun perabotan, yang ada cuma ruangan kosong berkelambu kain.
Anehnya, seluruh penerangan lampu yang dipakai berupa bolam kuning tak lebih dari 10 watt. Kondisi ini membuat mess benar-benar suram. Apalagi di bagian dapur, kamar mandi dan WC juga tidak ada lampu sehingga mau tidak mau, penghuni rumah terpaksa meraba-raba saat berada di ruangan itu malam hari.
Hari pertama keduanya menginap, tidak ada cerita horor yang terjadi. Semuanya berjalan baik-baik saja. Mess itu membuat mereka kerasan. Tapi tidak di hari-hari berikutnya.
Suatu ketika, sepulang magang, Mado nampak keletihan. Ia pun langsung membanting tubuhnya ke ranjang berbahan bambu dan beralaskan tikar pandan itu untuk beristirahat sejenak. Lain halnya dengan Achmad, yang memilih bergabung bersama pemuda setempat bermain volly di samping mess.
Tak lama memejamkan mata, tubuh Mado seketika terasa berat. Seperti ada sesuatu yang menindih di atasnya. Nafas menjadi berat, keringat dingin bercucuran dan badan sulit digerakkan. Antara setengah sadar, Mado melihat makhluk hitam berukuran besar seperti gorila, memegangi tangan dan kaki Mado, berdiri di samping kanan.
Untungnya peristiwa itu tak berlangsung lama, Mado cepat sadar dan segera beranjak keluar dari mess. Dalam keadaan itu, Achmad balik ke mess.
“Kenapa kamu?” tanya Achmad yang mendapat Mado jongkok dengan nafas terengah-engah di teras mess.
“Lindien,” singkat Mado. Lindien atau tindihan dikenal sebagai sleep paralysis, adalah perasaan tidak bisa bergerak, baik pada awal tidur atau saat bangun.
Masyarakat Jawa sering mengkait-kaitkan keadaan ini dengan tidur di waktu terlarang. Waktu terlarang untuk tidur biasanya pada saat menjelang maghrib. Jika dilanggar, maka orang tersebut biasanya akan tindihan.
